One room, a full crowd, and a very good Saturday. Here’s how the night went.
On July 26, Ava Flower Co hosted Comedy Night at our Upper East Side shop, a sold-out, ticketed, 21+ evening of stand-up in the room where we shop by day. Neighbors who’d never met were trading laughs by the second set. What Happened
The room filled up by 8. Chairs went out, the espresso machine kept running, and the shop we know by daylight turned into the best small comedy room on the Upper East Side. Our host warmed up the crowd, then three comics took the mic — tight sets, a couple of gloriously bombed jokes, and the kind of laughter that makes strangers turn to each other. Between sets, neighbors compared notes on what they were shopping, first-timers asked our budtenders the questions they’d been too shy to ask, and more than a few people said the same thing on the way out: “I didn’t expect to laugh that hard at a dispensary.” That’s exactly the point. The tickets were limited and the night sold out — proof that a warm, well-run room beats a loud one every time. We’ll do it again next month.
